Adult Itch Relief Balm Ingredients: (45oz)
- 2 tablespoons organic coconut oil (natural anti-inflammatory and moisturizing)
- 2 tablespoons organic shea butter (soothes and helps with skin regeneration)
- 1.5 tablespoons organic beeswax (helps to solidify the balm and protect skin)
- 10 drops organic lavender essential oil (calming and skin healing)
- 10 drops organic tea tree essential oil (antiseptic and anti-inflammatory)
- 10 drops organic eucalyptus lemon essential oil (cooling and soothing)
- 5 drops organic Roman chamomile essential oil (anti-inflammatory and soothing)
- 1 teaspoon organic aloe vera gel (optional for extra cooling and soothing)
- 1 teaspoon organic vitamin E oil (optional for added skin nourishment)
- 1 50 ounce glass jar OR a 30 ounce jar (home) and 15 ounce jar (camper)
- Clear printable sticker pages for labeling
The coconut oil and shea butter moisturize and calm the skin, while beeswax helps solidify the balm and forms a protective barrier. Lavender, tea tree, eucalyptus lemon, and chamomile essential oils work synergistically to reduce inflammation, promote healing, and provide a cooling effect to the irritated area. Aloe vera gel and vitamin E oil offer additional soothing and skin-repairing benefits, leaving the skin feeling nourished and restored. Perfect for easing itchiness and promoting quick recovery from bug bites with natural, gentle ingredients.

Instructions
- In a double boiler or a heatproof dish over simmering water OR in a glass or ceramic bowl in the microwave, melt the coconut oil, shea butter, and beeswax together until fully melted.
- 2 tablespoons coconut oil, 2 tablespoons shea butter, 1.5 tablespoons beeswax
- Once the base ingredients are melted, remove from heat and let it cool slightly (so the oils don’t degrade from the heat). Stirring will help to cool the base ingredients down faster. Add the lavender, tea tree, eucalyptus lemon, and chamomile essential oils, and mix well.
- 10 drops of lavender, 10 drops tea tree, 10 drops of eucalyptus lemon, 5 drops Roman chamomile
- If you’re using aloe vera gel and vitamin E oil, add them in now and stir thoroughly to combine. (The vitamin E may not mix thoroughly with the other ingredients. It will still harden properly with them.)
- 1 teaspoon aloe vera gel, 1 teaspoon vitamin E oil
- Pour the mixture into a small glass jar, and let it cool and solidify for a few hours. I poured mine into one 30 ounce jar for home and one 15 ounce jar for the camper.
- Apply a small amount of balm directly onto the bug bite and gently rub in. Reapply as needed.

Safety Notes for Kids
Try my “Natural Kid Safe Itch Relief Balm” if you aren’t wanting to make modifications or have concerns about using this product on your children.
- Dilution – For children, the total essential oil concentration should ideally be ≤1% for ages 2–6, and ≤0.5% for under age 2. Your recipe is already quite low, but we can check:
- You have 35 drops total essential oils. Assuming 20 drops = 1 mL, that’s about 1.75 mL in roughly 4.5 tablespoons (≈67 mL) of base — that’s ~2.6% dilution.
- To make it kid-safe, you can reduce to about half the essential oils (e.g., 5 drops lavender, 5 tea tree, 5 eucalyptus lemon, 2–3 chamomile).
- Eucalyptus Lemon EO – This is Corymbia citriodora, not the high-1,8 cineole eucalyptus globulus, so it’s considered safer for kids over 2 years old. Still, always avoid applying near the nose or mouth.
- Tea Tree EO – Safe topically for most kids in proper dilution, but some may have skin sensitivity. Patch test before use.
- Application area – Only use on affected skin, not on large areas, and keep away from eyes and mouth.
- Age guidance –
- Under 2 years: reduce essential oils to ≤0.5% dilution (~5–6 drops total for the whole batch).
- Ages 2–6: keep to ≤1% dilution (~12 drops total).
- Over 6 years: your original amount is fine.
