If your purpose in life is to do the will of God, you can’t allow spiritual laziness to hinder God’s purpose for you. Let us dive into what Scripture reveals to us about the Word of God.
What is your purpose? What is the reason you walk the Earth?
The call to do good, to be good, to receive goodness, is all a gift given from the Spirit above.
A gift that creates a world of peace, a world of happiness, a world of love.
Without Scripture, we are void of truth. Without Scripture, we are void of hope, peace, encouragement, direction, knowledge, and true love. Love given up and poured out for us.
Are you willing to “give up”, to sacrifice, in order to grow in holiness, knowledge, and relationship with Christ? To say yes to the Lord, means you must say no to something else.
What is causing your Spiritual laziness?
What is causing you to neglect your duties to the Lord, whether in reading Scripture, attending Church, serving God, or following His commandments? To say yes to time with God, means you must say no and forgo: your lack of motivation to read and pray, the excuse of “not having time”, putting forth little time or effort, and or prioritizing other obligations or pleasures.
Let us look at what Scripture tells us about the Word of God.
Scripture Verses for Spiritual Laziness
Colossians 3:16
Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly; teach and admonish one another in all wisdom; and with gratitude in your hearts sing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs to God.
Hebrews 4:12
Indeed, the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing until it divides soul from spirit, joints from marrow; it is able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart.
Psalm 18:30
This God—his way is perfect;
the promise of the Lord proves true;
he is a shield for all who take refuge in him.
Joshua 1:8
This book of the law shall not depart out of your mouth; you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to act in accordance with all that is written in it. For then you shall make your way prosperous, and then you shall be successful.
Romans 15:4
For whatever was written in former days was written for our instruction, so that by steadfastness and by the encouragement of the scriptures we might have hope.
Proverbs 30:5

Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.
Colossians 3:23-24

Proverbs 6:6-8
Go to the ant, you lazybones;
consider its ways, and be wise.
Without having any chief
or officer or ruler, it prepares its food in summer,
and gathers its sustenance in harvest.
Isaiah 40:8
The grass withers, the flower fades; but the word of our God will stand forever.
Proverbs 14:23

2 Timothy 2:15
Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved by him, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly explaining the word of truth.

Proverbs 26:13-16
The lazy person says, “There is a lion in the road!
There is a lion in the streets!”
As a door turns on its hinges,
so does a lazy person in bed.
The lazy person buries a hand in the dish,
and is too tired to bring it back to the mouth.
The lazy person is wiser in self-esteem
than seven who can answer discreetly.
Psalm 56:4
In God, whose word I praise, in God I trust; I am not afraid; what can flesh do to me?
Philippians 2:14-16
Do all things without murmuring and arguing, so that you may be blameless and innocent, children of God without blemish in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, in which you shine like stars in the world. It is by your holding fast to the word of life that I can boast on the day of Christ that I did not run in vain or labor in vain.
Deuteronomy 8:3
He humbled you by letting you hunger, then by feeding you with manna, with which neither you nor your ancestors were acquainted, in order to make you understand that one does not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of the Lord.
Ephesians 6:10-17
Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his power. Put on the whole armor of God, so that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For our struggle is not against enemies of blood and flesh, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers of this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, so that you may be able to withstand on that evil day, and having done everything, to stand firm. 14 Stand therefore, and fasten the belt of truth around your waist, and put on the breastplate of righteousness. As shoes for your feet put on whatever will make you ready to proclaim the gospel of peace. With all of these, take the shield of faith, with which you will be able to quench all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
