The 10 Day Intentional Homemaking Challenge is created for those longing to create a Christ centered heart, joy-filled atmosphere, and a well organized home. My prayer is for us to create wholesome habits that transform our hearts and our homes.
Homemaking may seem like it is full of simple and meaningless tasks, but the truth is, God created the home to be a means of servitude. He has commanded us to love one another as we love ourselves. Our homes is a tool we have been blessed with to do that. The tasks that we often see as dreadful, repetitive, mundane, and useless, are really gifts we are asked to complete in order to serve those around us.
Truly think about each task as hand. Why would God give us these tasks, except to bring glory to Himself? Because each task is an opportunity to say “Yes Lord. I will Lord.” and to point to Him and glorify Him through our works. We may never know the impact we have on others by completing these “simple” tasks. We are doing the Lord’s work, loving and serving others, bringing others closer to Christ. By doing this we are fulfilling what is said in Matthews Gospel.
“Then He will answer them, ‘Amen, I say to you, what you did not do for one of these least ones, you did not do for me.'” Matthew 25:45
HOW TO COMPLETE THE 10 DAY INTENTIONAL HOMEMAKING CHALLENGE:
You will complete this 10 day challenge by completing:
- Task 1: on Day 1
- Tasks 1 and 2: on Day 2
- Tasks 1, 2, and 3: on Day 3
- Tasks 1, 2, 3, and 4: on Day 4…..and so on
Each day for 10 days, you will add and complete an additional daily task WHILE repeating the task(s) you have already accomplished. The goal is for you to be able to complete all 10 tasks on day 10, and every day after.

10 DAY TASK BREAKDOWN
1. Praise and Bible Time
Pray Psalm 9 verses 1 and 2. Try to challenge yourself by praying these verses of praise out loud and in the morning. Along with reading the Psalm verses, pick at least 1 Bible verse to read. The more this becomes a habit, try to read more than just one verse.
2. Compliments
Compliment at least one person each day, along with giving yourself at least one compliment. This will help to boost someone else, along with yourself.
3. Goals
Each day, you will pick 1 big and 1 small goal to complete. This could include any of your normal household chores or responsibilities. Day 4 will add an additional daily chore to focus on. Your goals do NOT have to relate to chores. This could include going for a short walk, spending __ of minutes learning a new skill, etc.
4. Pick 1
As mentioned above, pick 1 is going to focus on completing one chore a day. The “Chore Checklist” page will provide you with examples to pick from. Every day, you should focus on 1 chore to complete at some point in the day.
5. Prayer
This is going to be time during your day when you are going to intentionally try to spend time with God. Work towards spending at least 15 minutes with Him each day. If you aren’t sure what to pray for, you can always use the “5 finger prayer rule.” (Thumb: those you love who, Pointer: health care, first responders, those who help, Middle: government, church, and all authority figures, Ring: those in need, poor, sick, etc., Pinky: you)
6. Declutter 1 Small Area
The goal of this task is for you to take a short time and declutter one SMALL area. This could be a drawer in any room, part of a countertop, a cabinet or cupboard. Focus on a small space everyday. This will help you to slowly get a more organized home without feeling overwhelmed or unmotivated. All of the small areas slowly becoming organized will add up faster than you think.
*This is especially key if you plan to move and know months in advance.
7. Read Colossians 3:1-2
At some point in your day read Colossians 3:1-2. Dwell on these living words every day. These Scripture verses are so important in our everyday mindset. Pray that your mind will be focused on the things above, and not consumed by things on earth.
8. 1 Blessing
Acknowledge or write down one blessing that you have, received, or recognize each day. Try to write these blessings in a journal, notebook, or somewhere you can keep a running record. It will be very special and impactful for you to be able to look back at your previous blessings, and watch them as they add up throughout the days, months, and years.
9. Goal Check-In
Take a few minutes every day to see where you are at with accomplishing your day’s goals. Don’t be discouraged if you have not completed both goals. Think about why they haven’t been completed, and if they can still be completed.
10. Ezekiel 36:26-27
Read and pray Ezekiel chapter 36 verses 26 and 27. Take time to talk with God, examine your conscience, and dwell on your obedience. What has God asked of you today? Have you asked? Are you listening? Have you followed His commandments? Pray about it, and be intentional about being with Him.

My prayer is for us to work as hard as we can to serve the Lord, by serving those around us. I pray that you can utilize this 10 day intentional homemaking challenge. That you allow God to transform your heart and your home. May He use me to speak to you, and help us create an earthly home that point us to our eternal home.
